Hello! My name is Shannan, I am an 8 year grateful recovering addict. I am a mother of four amazing children, and wife-of an amazing husband and respectable Major with our county’s Sheriff’s Office. A tale to tell, stick around, I assure you I will spill the juice in a blog soon enough.
Little backstory;
I have had most things people aspire to gain in their lifetime by the ripe age of 23, and boy,I was not ready. LARGE Victorian home in the country, paid in cash, Two nice vehicles, money in the bank, great job, two flourishing children and much more. None of which healed any of the wounds I had acquired growing up. I was still just as weak as a “wet, end of the day, cheap bandaid”. Eventually I lost it all, every last bit of it. To include my children. That was before my addiction reared its ugly head, that was mental health neglect. Just a sick depression, stuffing and stuffing all my emotions in a box. Family willing to hand me over money, but I had no support…I didn’t know what was wrong with me…So, then…drugs. I was prescribed pain meds from a car accident, and it was then that I started to subconsciously abuse them. The ball rolled from there.
I will spare you my war stories, but the active addiction soon to follow was horrible and dark. Now, while today I hold no reservations regarding lack of resources from any family or in this area in general, I eventually moved to Florida where I got worse…but then I was also found. The recovery was the most beautiful experience anyone could ever experience on a regular day, never mind those who are in need. Today I want to use that energy to fight for more of that right HERE. For the current, and the next victims of this treacherous sickness. Folks in similar shoes. I want more for them. This is what I want to see within our community. I want to watch my county bloom like a rare, most beautiful flower. I want to see the beautiful recovery like I had available to me in the paradise of Florida and I want it available here, right here!
Today, I am married to my soul mate and better half, Timothy Parker. I was just fresh into a year clean when we met. As you may imagine, our conversations regarding several topics got hairy, respectfully. My husband's eyes have opened, going from a set mind frame, pried wide open to all the things possible to make this happen. With his voice, my knowledge, and the help of many others, we WILL make history. I claim it right now.
So, what’s the plan? Read the “About PRC” section, and keep yourself updated with our blogs. Watch the bloom in its prime right along with us. It’s sure to make for a beautiful, beautiful result. I promise you right now, I won’t rest!
