Keep what you have
by giving it away
PRC4Change is a company I created based off of my desire to see recovery, wellness action planning, prevention and management that I physically saw, and lived with in Florida. I always tell people that I lost my self in Florida, but Florida found me. The recovery regarding ANY form of mental health was amazing to say the least. The desire to bring some of that here to Onslow County, and maybe further, is my dream.
Via my llc, ParkerRoseCompany,…I name my dream PRC4Change. This is nothing that can be assumed will happen overnight. Many things happen behind closed doors when it seems no one is doing anything the most. I am here to tell you, and to promise you, that every detail available to the public will be shared right here on the website!
It's always wonderful when you hear from people (whether known or unknown), that they are proud of you, or tell you how strong you are. Especially when most of your life was dedicated to the rigorous rebuilding all of the things you once tore apart yourself. But, I find myself looking down at times…as if they shouldn’t feel that way just yet. I have a gaping hole I need to fill. That is to bring the opportunities I had where I was at, and bring it right here in Onslow County.
My passion for life and my commitment with this company is to spread as much awareness, education, and resources for various causes within our community…with a goal of spreading in distance just as far as I can. Choosing to best utilize my desire to connect with others cannot only foster meaningful relationships but create powerful collaborations. Together we can create this “bloom” in our community.
My approach to life runs off empathy and a strong drive to contribute to the greater good. Whether through small acts of kindness, engaging in community service, or pursuing projects that aim to bring about positive change.
I am one person, all I ask is for YOU to share the word of what I am doing, so that I may gain as many resources as possible. As of right now, my plan is to dive head first into one thing at a time. Spend two months on each (while still doing various research work for each subject), I am starting by having 2 months at a time to share with the public, dedicated to each subject separately.
We have elderly, wandering into our hospitals, jails, police and Sheriffs offices….amongst many other places. They wander in, with dementia, or severe disabilities. We all know this, we all look and feel sad…but what can we do about it, other than assist in that moment. What about those who have no family? What is their day to day like, are they safe? Do they have health insurance? If not, what resources do we have to help them have a fulfilling rest of their lives?
I intend to find out all of this, and to find out what we can infact do. Imagine living out of state, not knowing your loved ones are in this state…that doesn’t mean they can’t get help…well it shouldn’t. I would love to see a position open to work with them in finding out who and what they have, what they need. Should they drive? Maintain the most freedom they can safely attain, and assist in that they cannot do alone.
We have teens
Whether it’s the teens that are scared to live at home, or those with undiagnosed mental health issues. Those who runaway day after day. How can we help these guys? Everything takes time, and has a process…and we only. Have so much man power to help everyone at once. Well, I would like to see a space open up where we have beds…maybe even just 48 hour beds, so an evaluation can be done, and placement can be set forth accordingly while we wait on court dates and whatnot.
Also, these kids only have so much to do, activity wise, without finding trouble. Together, as a community I strongly believe we can make a difference. Currently I am doing my research, seeing what we have already, seeing where they lack, or need help. Looking for ways to implement more of it, or create a place where kids can hangout, maybe add mentoring…who knows. But I will not stop until I do.
WE have also the ABUSED-all ages and genders. Scared to leave…because we all know…crazy don’t care about a paper saying to stay away in the most serious situations. This place “with beds”. Again, we can do this. I am looking into our woman’s shelters, looking for what we have for our men. Doing my research.
We have addicts
We see too much these folks being tossed in jails, or institutions…and then release to the wild. Written off as waste. I promise you, right here, right now, that addicts ARE able to recover and become productive members of society. They CAN be good friends, family, advocates. What does this look like for our future? We have less trauma induced citizens. Period. Less traumatized children and family of said addicts. See, this thing called addiction affects everyone around them or anyone who cares, or even tried to help. For them to see that change, they find hope, they find faith. This leads that next generation to have more and more productive people, rather than traumatized, hurt, scorned folks holding futures in their hands.
What I see too often is people being detoxed and released…or detoxed and sent to sober living, requiring way too much for a newcomer. That’s simply asking for them to fail. It’s literally “recovery preventative”. There needs to be a middle ground. Detox, middle ground, sober living. NOTHING is one size fits, so we should treat it that way. If we want to see a better future, we need to help heal our present. A middle ground, with fellowship and programs required by law…replacing jails and most institutions. This is my plan…find this to become real for us.
